Nevelyn Pimenta, most known by her artist name MAYA PANDORA, is an artist originally from Brazil Minas Gerais, and best known for her vibrant and transcendental art, which deals with such themes as mysticism, metaphysics, and occultism.
MAYA started painting at age of 13 when she found out how passionate she was about spirituality. She felt like the only possible way to communicate all her abstract thoughts about fundamental existential questions was through painting because for her the white canvas had the unlimited possibility of expression. Throughout her soul-seeking journey, she converted to Buddhism at age of 16 and maintained a Buddhist for 4 years, and found profound answers about the world surrounding us, which heavily influenced her sketches and art pieces.
MAYA’s cultural background also influenced her art profoundly, after her trip to Brazil where she had the intention to explore tribes and the religion called Santo Daime which is a mixture of indigenous, Catholic, and Afro-Brazilian beliefs, where she had her first experience with ayahuasca and developed many paintings picturing the revelations she learned. Currently, Maya resides in San Francisco, CA where she works as a birth Doula and still produces her paintings far from social media because she believes her art is produced with more authenticity and presence
