Sérgio Free was born in the south of Bahia and lived there until he was 5 years old. He arrived in São Paulo in 1986 and got to know a world of different values. He began to understand and value urban art, from the graffiti he saw on the walls in the Tucuruvi neighborhood.
He imagined himself at dawn, scratching walls and getting to know the city, like the stories he heard from the gangs of graffiti artists who gathered near his house. This new beginning made him an appreciator of graffiti and a collector of signatures from local graffiti artists in the city.
In this observation of buildings and graffiti walls, he learned to value the architecture of São Paulo.
Sergio Free continued to represent his influences. After 20 years of making illegal art on the streets of São Paulo, in 2014 to present his paintings on canvas.
Today, Sergio Free paints with spray, acrylic paint and marker pen. The goal of his art is to register his memories and experiences on canvas while questioning the current world with a scientific vision. His work freezes experiences, reproducing the city scene in realistic scenarios, where his characters represent himself, and sometimes they represent society.
He participated in 12 exhibitions, 6 individual and 1 International. His works were exhibited at the IV Bienal Internacional de Graffiti, Memorial da América Latina and renowned Art Galleries.
